***

The only book my son requested this year. Repeatedly: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (full report of his reaction to come)

The book I brought for my office's Christmas exchange then ended up taking home for myself because no one else picked it (Don't give me that look; at least it's going to someone who really wants it.): The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Book I'm most looking forward to hiding out in my bedroom with, cup of hot chocolate on hand and the door barricaded against any interruptions (knock at the risk of being growled at and having a shoe thrown at you): Hemlock Grove by Brian McGreevy

I know you've already seen the trailer for this...but I JUST CANNOT WAIT!!!! The road goes ever on and on...

HAPPY READING!

  1. Great list! I see some good ones for me to read for my horror blog. I totally agree with A Game of Thrones...that is going to be my number one favorite read from 2011, when I get my list compiled. =O) I've been wanting to read Rotters and now I've seen it on your's and Ryan's best of lists, so I know it must be excellent.

Yes, cannot. wait. for. The Hobbit either! So exciting. I finally got all there LOTR films on DVD so time to re-watch before seeing The Hobbit. Will probably read the book again too.

    Happy New Year, Stephanie!

  2. Excuse that major grammar faux pas above...I meant 'the', but typed 'there'. Doh!

  3. Thanks to you, Rotters made my list of the year as well. I have The Devotion of Supect X, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I will next year though. I also have Wolf Hall on my shelves, not sure when I will get to that though, it's so big!

I will have to read The Curse of the Wendigo, because I've read The Monstrumologist (thanks to you again).

Can't wait to see what you read next year.

  4. You know, looking at your list made me realize that I have read more books based on your reviews than of any other book blogger. I read Before I Go to Sleep and Daughter of Smoke and Bone based on your reviews, as well as several other books not listed here, plus I actually want to read Rotters, although I would never have thought to pick it up on my own. So great work and I look forward to many more fantastic book recommendations from you.

  5. That's quite a list of bests for this year! Yaaay for Game of Thrones, and I still have to get to Wolf Hall (sitting on my TBR mountain). I haven't heard of Curse of the Wendigo, I will have to look for it. Good list, Stephanie! Happy 2012 and good reading!

  7. Michelle - One of these days, I'll take a week off just to read A Clash of Kings. Did you see Martin's excerpt of the 6th book? By the time I get through books 2-5, he'll hopefully have the 6th one published.

Ryan - I think Curse of the Wendigo will knock your socks off. I'm saving Isle of Blood for a special treat...maybe my birthday?

Simcha - My evil plan of influence is working. Hahahaa!

Susan - Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year to you!

Blodeuedd - I foresee a marathong LOTR weekend in preparation for The Hobbit premiere. Ya, am a GEEK!

  8. Oops. I don't know what a "marathong" is but it sounds a little freaky...

  10. Oh I remember your review of Rotters and you did love that one. :) This is a great list.

I look forward to your son's thoughts on Hunger Games. :) I think that will be a great post. My son read it as well, but we didn't get to do a post on it. :)

And that trailer does look amazing! :D Happy New year!!
